What do we have here then? This is the site of Karl Toon, a fictitious character but who is actually me. Or am I him? I can never remember. Anyway, we, I, created this blog to be a bit of everything to do with cartooning, animation, drawing, and art in general, whatever takes my fancy at any particular moment. Take a peek. You may find something you enjoy. I try to make it as original and useful as I can. Do come back and visit often. Thanks for visiting.

Fast Cartoon Design #1 - Head & Body Morph Creation in Character Creator...
I haven't tried this tutorial myself yet, but will do when I have time. I notice he uses other programs other than Character Creator in the tutorial which doesn't give a good initial impression of Character Creator. The one problem I have found in general with Reallusion products is that you need a money tree to feed the money pit of buying programs and addons.

Summer Beach
Created in MOHO Pro 13 for the monthly competition at www.animestudiotutor.com
The cruise ship is based on a design from Freepik.com as are the hula girls. I had to learn the basics of hula dance for this animation. I've also included some squash and stretch with the beach ball. It took a bit of thought to create the tree shadows, which I admit aren't perfect as the shadows darken where they overlap. The music is a freebie from Youtube Audio Library. I've also included Sheppy from the MOHO library.

Is Blender Good for 3D Printing
3D printing isn't something I've tried yet, but if I wanted to create something unique of my own design then I would certainly consider Blender for 3D printing.

Is Blender good for 2D animation
I am currently using Cartoon Animator 4 and / or MOHO Pro 13 when creating my 2d animations. The Grease Pencil in Blender will allow me to create 2d animations in a 3d space, which sounds and looks great. The main questions I have for myself with this are, what is the time cost of learning and using this feature and are the end results going to be worth it? I suppose there is only one way to find out and that requires me to just dive in and start learning.
Animation Practise: Squash and Stretch.
Back to basics with the first Principle of Animation, Squash and Stretch, created in MOHO Pro 13.
Blender 2.83 LTS - Features Showcase

Travis Davids' Most Used Programs For Creating 3D Art
I have to admit I haven't even heard of some of these programs and personally only scratched the surface of some of the others, but I felt this video may be of use for when I get more into 3D. At the moment I am mainly concentrating on 2D, but the urge to go plus one to 3D is itching away at me.

Storyboarder 2.0 Update - Wonder Unit
Use this wonderful free Storyboarder software from Wonder Unit to create your storyboard. A storyboard is a way of testing out your story ideas in a visual way before approaching the more complex task of the actual animation. Not particularly necessary for a short animation of just a single scene or a few seconds, but ultimately time saving for longer works. Test ideas in a storyboard and change them easily if they don't work. Brilliant for planning your narrative. Storyboarder is completely free and an essential tool in any animator's arsenal of software. Storyboarder from Wonder Unit.
